چکیده
Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of latanoprost for the prevention of ocular hypertension after neodymium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser posterior capsulotomy. Methods: Fifty six eyes of 56 consecutive patients receiving neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser capsulotomy for posterior capsule opacification were randomized to group 1, who received 1 drop of latanoprost 0.005%, or to group 2, who received 1 drop of normal saline, 1 hour before the laser treatment. Intraocular pressures were taken before instillation of the eye drop, and at 1 hour and 2 hours after the laser procedure. Student’s t-test was used to analyze the differences in intraocular pressures between the 2 groups. Results: There were no statistically significant changes in the mean intraocular pressures of the 2 groups at 1 and 2 hours after neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser capsulotomy compared with the baseline. PURPOSE To analyze and compare the effects on intraocular pressure (IOP) of several topic hypotensive agents after posterior capsulotomy with Nd:YAG laser in non glaucoma patients. METHODS 145 pseudophakic eyes underwent to Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy. Before capsulotomy. 21 were treated with apraclonidine, 20 with brimonidine, 23 with dorzolamide, 20 with latanoprost, 20 with pilocarp...
متن کاملRefractive Error and Anterior Segment Parametric Changes in Patients with Posterior Capsular Opacification after Nd: YAG Laser Posterior Capsulotomy
Background and Objective: Cataract is one of the most common causes of blindness in the world, and posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is the most common complication after cataract surgery. Nd: YAG laser posterior capsulotomy is a standard method for the treatment of PCO. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of Yas laser capsulotomy on anterior segment parameters and lenticu...
متن کاملIntraocular Pressure Spikes following Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet Laser Capsulotomy: Current Prevalence and Management in Israel
AIM The current treatment for posterior capsular opacification (PCO), neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser capsulotomy, may lead to increased intraocular pressure (IOP). Our aim was to survey routines in the management of IOP spikes and to identify the rate of IOP spikes following prophylactic apraclonidine treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS A survey questionnaire among ophtha...
متن کاملRecurrent late-onset fibrotic capsular block syndrome after neodymium-yttrium-aluminum-garnet laser anterior capsulotomy: a case report
BACKGROUND Capsular block syndrome is an uncommon complication that occurs after cataract surgery. It is characterized by capsular distension, anterior intraocular lens displacement, anterior chamber shallowing, and unexpected myopic shifts. We report a case of recurrent fibrotic capsular block syndrome with Elschnig's pearl-type posterior capsule opacification 10 months after neodymium-yttrium...
متن کاملNeodymium:yttrium-aluminum garnet capsulotomy rates after combined cataract surgery with implantation of a 4% water content hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens and vitrectomy
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to examine neodymium:yttrium-aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) capsulotomy rates after combined cataract surgery with implantation of a three-piece 4% water content hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (X-70, Eternity®) and vitrectomy, and compare diabetic retinopathy with nondiabetic retinopathy. METHODS Nd:YAG capsulotomy rates were evaluated for 72 eyes of 7...
